Description

The first book in the #1 bestselling Crescent City series by Sarah J. Maas, author of the Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series.

Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life-working hard all day and partying all night-until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She'll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.

Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose-to assassinate his boss's enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he's offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.

As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City's underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion-one that could set them both free, if they'd only let it.

With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive fantasy series by #1 bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom, and the power of love.

Other eBooks in this series include:

At first glance I had a hard time getting through all the minuet details in the beginning, but the extra context is worth it throughout the book!! Utterly captivating! Couldn’t wait to dive into the rest of the series! Sarah J. Maas is a genius and truly incredible writer! Started the CC series after ACOTAR and so glad I did!! Love the eventual cross over! Hope to see more of that with the next one that comes out!

This book was a wonderful surprise, not my normal read that I now recommend as a must read.

I struggled with the beginning of this book. It was very slow to develop. I loved the last third. Definitely will read the next book in the series.

I love Sara J Maas. Her characters have depth and flaws and she weaves in plenty of twists and turns. No un-ending inner monologue that grates. Just great writing and a great series.

I read all of her other book series and when I started this one I put it aside at first because it wasn’t “the same.” I picked it back up only because I thought I owed Sarah the chance to prove herself again and WOW did she! I read this greedily into the early morning hours on many nights, unable to put it down. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Slow in the beginning, a whole new world to learn about. The end was awesome though, great culmination of events and characters. Good read altogether.
  • Great Ending

The ending of the book really changed my opinion. I was about to give up on this book but it really started to pick up in the last two parts. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars, is because the author does that trope where the villain starts to explain all the details of their plan at the end, instead of leaving better clues throughout the reading.
  • Great book!
