El Presidio is a fictional story about the building of the Presidio in Santa Barbara, California. A young Spanish officer is brought over to oversee the job and soon falls in love with a Chumash woman. He is expected to marry into his own social status and things begin to get ugly when his new wife finds out about the Native American woman.
