Three Siblings. One Year. Everything Changes.

Stained glass artist Callie Davis is in desperate need of a vacation. Burnt out and on the edge of a nervous breakdown, she’s taking refuge on Massachusetts’ tiny Carter Island. Callie yearns for long, lazy days and pretty walks on the beach—blessed solitude and an escape from the pressures of her career and complications of her life. Then she bumps into gorgeous Nate Carter, and everything changes.

Sheriff Nathan Carter couldn’t be happier now that the height of the summer season has finally come and gone. After four endless months, tourists have packed their bags and headed for the mainland. The quiet days of autumn are about to befall the town—the way Nate and his fellow Sandersonians like it best.

But nothing ends up quite the way Nate expects when he meets the beautiful blond with the big blue eyes. Callie’s pretty smiles hide secrets—deep, dark mysteries that have the potential to rip apart their lives.

If you like a good (clean) spicy swoon worthy romance with a nice side of mystery, you’ve found the right book. This book keeps you hooked from page one. Honestly fell in love with and felt for Callie and LOVED the community of Carter Island. Cannot wait to read the rest of the trilogy!

There were points of brilliance in the story line that keeps the reader anxious to see what happens next. The down side is the over use of sexual scenes which after awhile seemed like fillers to make the book longer. Almost spoiled the book for me so I just skipped those chapters of explicit porn to get back to the well written story line. I am finding too often authors following similar steps thinking that it is needed to keep the reader interested. What is wrong with our society?

Absolutely LOVED it. It kept me interested from the very beginning. Right as I thought I was figuring out more to the mystery, she threw in a new clue and I was second guessing. I loved the romance added to it yet the whole book wasn’t only that. The mystery thriller aspect was done very well.

This book has it all - romance, passion, mystery, suspense - clear to the last page. I couldn’t put it down!

I didn’t want to put the book down. It was a good suspenseful book.
  • Great crime story - but too much…

I enjoyed the layers of crime story here, but the sex scenes bordered on pornography. Do I really need to have those details in a crime story? Come on. We get it, they’re both beautiful and have lots of sex, but that is not needed to solve the crime.
  • Good story, but…

There was an awful lot of apologizing, and “talk to me,” and “let me help, what can I do to help.” It got nauseating. About two thirds of the way through the book I started skipping the completely unrealistic sex scenes. Overall, the plot was good. I liked the characters. I was kind of surprised at the end, but I did actually guess it. The last chapter you could see coming a mile away.

The beginning started off a little slow but I hung in there. I love the romance mystery type of feel.
  • Explosive ending!

The beginning and middle are good although a bit formulaic… but the ending is thrilling and satisfying. The second book (which isn’t free) is about other characters in the book so it isn’t needed to feel satisfied with where this story ends. Really liked it! Easy read.
